FAQ
General
Section titled “General”What does Buy Again & Reorder Reminders do?
Buy Again makes it easy for customers to reorder products they’ve bought before. It adds reorder buttons to the thank you page, customer account pages, your storefront, and Shopify POS — plus a past purchases widget at checkout so customers can add previous items to their current order. It also sends automated email reminders to bring customers back before they run out.
Does the app work with all Shopify themes?
The Bought By You storefront slider works with any Online Store 2.0 theme (Dawn, Impulse, Prestige, Turbo, etc.). The checkout extension requires Shopify Plus. The Reorder Popup and Buy Again Page require new customer accounts (any plan). The Thank You Page extension works on all Shopify plans.
Does it work with Shopify's new customer accounts?
Yes, it is built specifically for Shopify new account after legacy custom account got deprecated in February 2026 and for the Reorder Popup & Reorder Page extensions, new customer account is required. Legacy customer accounts are not supported for those two extensions. Switch to new customer accounts under Shopify Admin → Settings → Customer accounts.
Can customers reorder without logging in?
No. All Buy Again extensions rely on the customer’s order history, which requires them to be logged in. Guests and visitors with no order history see nothing.
Will this slow down my store?
No. The widget loads asynchronously and it does not block page rendering. All other extensions run inside Shopify’s native checkout and new customer account infrastructure.
Reorder Buttons & Extensions
Section titled “Reorder Buttons & Extensions”How do I add a reorder button to my Shopify checkout?
Requires Shopify Plus. Open the app Dashboard and click Open Checkout editor, add the Buy Again All Products app block, and save. See the full guide.
How do I add a reorder button to the thank you page?
Open the app Dashboard and click Open Thank You editor, add the Buy Again Specific Order app block, and save. Works on all Shopify plans. See the full guide.
How do I add a reorder button to the customer account order history?
That is the Reorder Popup extension. It adds a Reorder action to each order in the customer account. Requires new customer accounts. See the full guide.
Can I show all past purchases in one place for customers to reorder?
Yes — the Buy Again Page extension creates a dedicated page in the customer account listing everything they’ve bought. See the full guide.
How does the Buy Again slider work on the storefront?
The Bought By You slider is a theme section added via the theme editor. It shows a horizontal scrolling carousel of products the logged-in customer has bought before. It hides automatically for guests. See the full guide.
Can I exclude certain products from the Buy Again - Reorder extension?
Yes. Go to Settings → Exclude Products, use the product picker to select products you want hidden, and save. Excluded products are hidden across all extensions.
What happens if a product is out of stock?
Out of stock products are hidden by default. To show them, go to Settings → Product Availability → Allow out of stock → Yes. You also need to enable “Continue selling when out of stock” on those products in Shopify Admin.
Does Buy Again work with subscription products?
Yes. The Reorder Popup and thank you page extensions support adding items with subscription selling plans, if your products have selling plans configured in Shopify.
Email Reminders
Section titled “Email Reminders”Which plan do I need to send reorder reminder emails?
Growth ($25/mo) or Enterprise ($75/mo). Starter does not include email reminders.
Which email providers does Buy Again support?
Klaviyo, Omnisend, Mailchimp, Brevo, and a built-in Custom ESP option (send from your own domain — no third-party ESP account needed).
How do I set up reorder reminder emails?
Go to Reorder Reminders, connect your ESP, set the number of days after purchase, and toggle reminders on. Guides: Klaviyo · Omnisend · Mailchimp · Brevo · Custom ESP.
How many reminder emails can I send per month?
Growth: 2,000/month. Enterprise: 10,000/month. The count resets each billing cycle and unused reminders do not carry over.
What happens when I hit my monthly reminder limit?
Sending pauses until your next billing cycle. You will see a warning in the app before reaching the cap. Upgrading your plan immediately restores sending.
How do I pick the right number of days to send the reminder?
Think about how long your product realistically lasts and subtract 3–5 days. Common timings:
- Supplements, coffee, skincare → 25–28 days
- Cleaning products → 60–80 days
- Pet food → 20–30 days
- Candles, home fragrance → 45–60 days
Discounts
Section titled “Discounts”Can I offer a discount when customers reorder?
Yes. Go to Settings → Discount Configuration, choose percentage or fixed amount, enter the value, and enter a discount code. The app creates it in your store automatically and the discount applies at cart — no manual code entry needed by the customer.
Do I need to create the discount code in Shopify first?
No. Enter the code you want in Buy Again Settings and the app automatically creates or updates it in your Shopify store when you save.
Plans & Billing
Section titled “Plans & Billing”Is there a free trial?
Yes — all plans include a 7-day free trial. No charge until the trial ends.
What is the difference between monthly and yearly billing?
Yearly billing saves you the equivalent of two months. Starter: $120/yr vs $12/mo × 12 = $144. Growth: $250/yr vs $300. Enterprise: $750/yr vs $900.
Can I upgrade or downgrade at any time?
Yes. Upgrades take effect immediately. If you downgrade to Starter, reminder sending stops immediately. Your integration settings are preserved and resume if you upgrade again.
What is AI Retention Reminders on the Enterprise plan?
Instead of sending every customer a reminder at the same fixed number of days, AI Retention Reminders analyzes each customer’s purchase behavior and sends at the optimal time for that individual. More relevant timing = better open rates and fewer unsubscribes.
Uninstalling
Section titled “Uninstalling”What happens to my data if I uninstall Buy Again?
When you uninstall the app, all your store data held by Buy Again — settings, integration credentials, reminder queues — is deleted from our system. Reminder emails stop immediately.
Discount codes created by Buy Again remain in your Shopify Admin. You can leave them as-is or delete them manually under Shopify Admin → Discounts.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”The Buy Again - Reorder extension is not showing for my customers.
Check in order:
- The customer must be logged in with a previous order
- The extension must be added and saved in the theme or checkout editor
- The products in that order must not be in the Excluded Products list
- If products are out of stock, check the Product Availability setting in Settings
The Reorder Popup or Buy Again Page is not visible.
Both require new customer accounts. Go to Shopify Admin → Settings → Customer accounts and confirm new customer accounts are active.
Reminder emails are going to spam.
If using Custom ESP: verify both the TXT and DKIM DNS records are added and verified. DKIM is the key record for avoiding spam filters. If using a third-party ESP, check your domain authentication settings in that provider’s dashboard.
A customer did not receive their reminder email.
Check: (1) Was the order placed after reminders were enabled? (2) Has the send date arrived based on your timing setting? (3) Was your monthly limit hit? (4) Is the customer’s email suppressed or unsubscribed in your ESP?
Revenue in Analytics looks lower than expected.
Analytics only counts orders placed via a Buy Again button or reminder link. Orders placed directly through your store without clicking a Buy Again touchpoint are not attributed, even if the customer previously used Buy Again.
