Shopify’s Buy Again button is enabled by default in new customer accounts. It appears on the order history and order status pages, letting customers reorder a previous order by adding all items directly to cart with one click.
While this is useful for some stores, for many other stores, the default behaviour causes real problems. If you wish to know about 11 reasons why Shopify merchants want to hide the buy again button, then read here.
Here’s a 4-step process to turn it off without any code.
How to Hide the Buy Again Button on Shopify
The setting lives inside the checkout and customer accounts editor. Here’s where to find it:
Step 1: From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Checkout.
Step 2: In the Configurations section, click ‘Customize’ next to the profile you want to edit.
Step 3: In the editor, click the Settings icon (gear icon in the top-left or sidebar panel).
Step 4: In the Settings panel, scroll down and find the Buy Again button toggle and switch it off.
That’s it. The buy again button will no longer appear on the order history and order status pages.
Should You Hide It or Replace It?
Hiding the button removes the problem that merchants are facing, but it also removes the opportunity of reordering revenue. If you don’t want to lose reorder revenue, then consider replacing the default button with a better experience.
Buy Again & Reorder Reminders is built for Shopify’s new customer accounts. It replaces the default Buy Again button with a reorder flow that lets customers edit quantities, add line item properties and order notes, keep the existing cart, and support subscription reorders and reorder discounts.
It also supports reorder reminder emails that bring customers back when they’re likely to need a product again. If you want to understand how different reminders work, then here’s a guide to the 3 types of reorder reminders.
